Grading for this unit will be based on:

Marking
For the two major projects, you will receive a list of information which you should include, and a rubric to help you see how it will be marked. You have many choices how to present what you have learned: poster, essay, video, voice recording, artistic presentation, you name it! If you can find a way to share what you have learned, I will approve it as long as it allows you to demonstrate that you have covered all of the material.
Binder checks will be announced towards the end of each unit. You will have a list of the things that should be in your binder or a duotang. I will be looking for all of the things on the list. You can achieve higher marks for this part of the assessment by having your binder or duotang neatly organized, complete, and with your best handwriting. If you wish to have the assignments digitally so that you can type your answers instead of writing them, I will make these available. Just ask.
Class participation marks will be based on:

- whether you contribute comments and questions (be brave!)
- during group work times, whether you are on topic or doing other things
- how you treat the staff and classmates in the room. Be kind!
- honest mistakes you make – mistakes are great! You can’t learn if you don’t take risks
- asking for help from a teacher or EA (that’s what we’re here for)
- confusion
- needing extra help, when you’re on task
- enjoying and deciding to work alone, in a group, or with an EA
